The mole or the beauty spot signifies the reflection of the Beloved’s heart upon her face. At the same time, it is the Beloved’s innermost mystery—a mystery beyond the reach of the intellect.
The Beloved uses the mole as bait to capture the sincere lover. It reveals a profound truth: Once the lover is completely captured, there is no escape from this captivity. It is like a black hole, whose gravity is so powerful that even light cannot escape.
In the same way, the attraction of the Beloved’s mole is so strong that no human willpower can resist it.
And Hafez says:
My bird-like spirit was singing from the angelic tree in Paradise
But at last was caught by the grain and fell into the snare of your beauty spot
مرغ روحم که همی زد ز سرِ سِدره صفیر
عاقبت دانهٔ خال تو فکندش در دام
