The roots of the Toronto Nimatullahi Sufi House trace back to December 1992, when a temporary space was established under the guidance of the late Master, Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh, to host meditation sessions. In April 1995, the Toronto Sufi House officially opened at its permanent location at 1784 Lawrence Avenue West, becoming the first center of the Nimatullahi Sufi Order in Canada.

The center maintains a library of several hundred volumes on Sufism and related mystical traditions. It has long served as a gathering place for seekers of Truth and lovers of the Divine. Under the auspices of the current Master, Dr. Alireza Nurbakhsh, members and guests meet twice weekly for meditation, Sufi discourses, poetry and music.

Over the past two decades, the Toronto Sufi House has organized numerous cultural and fundraising events within the broader Toronto community, promoting the values of love, unity, and service.

Service to others is a core principle of the Sufi path. Since 2014, members have prepared and served monthly meals to sixty youth experiencing homelessness through Youth Without Shelter. Since May 2024, another weekly meal initiative has been delivering food to shelters, supporting sixty people in need.
