The Chicago Nimatullahi Sufi House opened in the Ravenswood neighborhood in 1980, by the order of the late Master, Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh. It was the seventh of seventeen Sufi Centers established in North America. In 2010, the center relocated to Rogers Park, an area with the national distinction of being Chicago's most diverse neighborhood.

From its first opening, group meditation sessions have been held for members every Thursday and Sunday evening. You are welcome to join our sessions by appointment.

Beyond the weekly meditation sessions, our volunteer initiatives provide support services to those in need. We partner with Cornerstone Community Outreach, a local family shelter serving women, men, and children, where meals are prepared and served.

We also collaborate with Sara's Circle, by preparing and delivering meals. This is an organization which helps homeless women transition to affordable housing.

For those interested in Sufism, we host Sunday afternoon tea by RSVP, providing a welcoming environment for newcomers. Our Meetup Group is named Sufi Center Chicago, where we announce the Sunday tea schedule and our community service events.

The Sufi Center is dedicated to spiritual growth, community service, and creating an inclusive space for all spiritual seekers.

Meditation Sessions

A key spiritual practice within the Order is silent meditation, which cultivates inner peace and mindfulness. Members are encouraged to attend twice-weekly group meditation sessions, where they engage with Sufi discourses and poetry.

The Nimatullahi Sufi Order welcomes sincere seekers in search of spiritual guidance and selfless service. Those interested are encouraged to reach out and arrange a visit to one of the Order’s centers worldwide.
